Incubation: Strengthening the Climate Movement

COIN believes that effective public engagement requires a diversity of messages and styles. We also believe that the existence of a strong and vocal movement for change will be vital for generating the government policy changes needed to support personal emissions reductions. We are committed to helping other organisations find their feet, in order to strengthen the climate movement as a whole.

The Incubation Programme provides a range of services to small organisations and new initiatives building public awareness and activity on climate change. These services include:

  • Advice: Providing a tailored package of advice on communications, finance, fundraising and organisational strategy.
  • Connecting people: Providing contact details for other organisations, media, and funding sources and facilitating access to people with complementary interests and skills.

At present this is a small and informal programme funded out of COIN's core resources. A decision is made on a case-by-case basis as to the level of support that COIN is able to provide, based largely on our assessment of the usefulness of the organisation's work to the climate movement as a whole.
